Snacktrition Review & Giveaway!

Calcium and Fiber are two key nutrients that are vital to good health, yet many of us do not get the amount we need on a daily basis. Did you know that an estimated 98% of Americans do not get the daily recommended amount of fiber? Calcium and Fiber are important nutrients because they protect against several health conditions. Without adequate calcium supply, we put ourselves at an increased risk for diseases such as osteoporosis, which can have debilitating effects. In addition, people with diets low in fiber can have increased bouts of constipation and an increased likelihood of developing cancer or heart disease.

I agree that without a formal degree in nutrition, knowing which foods contain adequate nutrients can be tricky. Luckily, a company called Snacktrition has just made it a bit easier for all of us! Snacktrition believes in the power of healthy snacking. Snacktrition offers several healthy snack options that each contain benefits such as calcium and fiber. In addition, Snacktrition is able to reduce the amount of fat by oven baking instead of oil baking. The nuts are then enriched with nutrients such as calcium and fiber. Finally, the overall sodium content of their products is reduced by using kosher sea salt.

Review
Snacktrition
carries five different healthy snacks: Calcium Sea Salt Almonds, Calcium Smoked Almonds, Fiber Salt & Pepper Cashews, Fiber Sea Salt Cashews, and Calcium & Fiber Fruit & Nut Mix. Each can be purchased in 3-ounce bags and 8.5-ounce resalable containers.

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to try each of Snacktrition’s products (some in the bags and some in the containers). My boyfriend and I both tried the products and we both had different opinions. My favorite was the Fiber Salt & Pepper Cashews and his was the Calcium & Fiber Fruit & Nut Mix.

I really enjoyed the Fiber Salt & Pepper Cashews because they had a really nice flavor to them; just enough salt with an added bit of spice. I liked that they didn’t taste like they had been drenched in oil. I like that by reducing the oil it allows me to easily add nuts into my diet without being concerned about the high number of calories many varieties contain. I was happy knowing that by eating them I was making a healthy choice and increasing my fiber intake as well as many other nutrients. In addition to the fiber, cashews naturally contain more than 12 vital vitamins and minerals, which is an added bonus! Complete nutritional facts on this product can be found here.

My boyfriend’s favorite, the Calcium & Fiber Fruit & Nut Mix, is great because it is a wonderful mix of fruits, nuts and white chocolate! Who doesn’t love chocolate? This variety is perfect for people who prefer slightly sugary treats to salty ones. In addition, I love that this variety is high in both calcium and fiber, as well as several other vital nutrients. I also enjoyed this variety but I am more of a salty treat person, whereas my boyfriend enjoys the sweeter treats. Complete nutritional facts on this product can be found here.

Finally, the packaging solution for the 8.5-ounce containers is great! Not only do these packages keep your snacks fresh, but also, they are also completely reusable. In addition, these containers are both dishwasher and microwave safe! Therefore, when you buy the 8.5-ounce Snacktrition products you are not only buying a healthy snack but you are purchasing a storage container that can be used over and over. In my house, this is perfect. We can never have too many storage containers! The only thing I would change about Snacktrition's products is the 3-ounce bags. I would love to see them release bags that have a resalable Ziploc-type option. This would make storage much easier.

What can you win?
One winner will receive one 8.5-ounce tub of each of Snacktrition’s products: Calcium Sea Salt Almonds, Calcium Smoked Almonds, Fiber Salt & Pepper Cashews, Fiber Sea Salt Cashews, and Calcium & Fiber Fruit & Nut Mix.

  11. Cool! I didn't know about the fiber cutting calories-

"Some researchers have calculated that if Americans double their intake for fiber, they could cut 100 calories from their daily diet, which could shave 10 pounds off their weight, yearly."

Sweet! I'll be remembering that one!
