Keurig Platinum Review & Giveaway!

In the past few months, I have seen quite a few other bloggers feature Keurig’s single cup brewing systems on their blogs. The first time I saw it, it reminded me of another brewing system I had seen before that is made by Braun and Bosch. The visual difference was apparent; Keurig’s machines looked much fancier. I have to admit, the sleek design, in addition to all the lights and buttons, instantly caught my attention!

At first, I wondered to myself…do I really need something like this? I hardly ever drink coffee. That got me thinking. Why don’t I drink coffee? It is not that I don’t like it. I have always had a taste for it even though I have never drank much of it. I quickly realized, the fact I don’t drink coffee on a regular basis is probably due to the fact that I live with someone who doesn’t like coffee. We have a coffee machine that I tried to use once and that was a disaster. Not only that but I think making a full pot of coffee for one person is rather pointless. Even though I don’t drink coffee at home, I also hardly ever buy coffee when I go out. I just can’t bring myself to pay $5 for a decent cup of coffee.


After looking more into Keurig’s single cup brewing systems, I was sold! These systems seem to solve all my problems and even have a few special bonus features.

So, as you can probably imagine, when I found out I was going to be testing out Keurig’s Platinum Home Brewing System, I was very excited! After looking through the information on this system online, I was amazed by all it’s features and it’s Award Winning Design. This system is the first of it’s kind in that it allows you to brew your favorite coffee, hot chocolate, or tea in 5 different cup sizes: 4 oz., 6 oz., 8 oz., 10 oz., and 12 oz. In addition, Keurig has added a larger water reservoir to this system, which means you don’t need to refill it as often. The new removable reservoir holds up to 60 oz. of water and is estimated to brew 10 cups before refilling is required. The Platinum Keurig is great because it is fully customizable. Features like the adjustable temperature control, the “Set Your Favorite Cup Size” option, the digital clock, and the auto of/off, allow you to brew the perfect cup of coffee/hot chocolate/tea any time you like! It even has a function that allows you to brew iced tea! Moreover, for those of you who can’t stand a noisy coffee maker, Keurig has built-in the Quiet Brew™ Technology to their Platinum Brewing System. At last, the Platinum brewing system offers a removable drip tray, which accommodates a travel mug and facilitates easy cleanup.

Now, on to what I thought about Keurig’s Platinum Home Brewing System. All in all, I loved it! This machine is a fantastic investment. I love that this system allows me to finally enjoy a hot cup of coffee without having to worry about making a whole pot or fiddling around with a complicated coffee maker. This brewing system was fairly easy to program and very easy to use. I love that you can program all your favorite settings into the machine so that each time it starts up again all you have to do is press the brew button for that perfect cup. The first time you start up the system in the day it takes only a few minutes to warm up (not nearly as long as a traditional coffee maker or a kettle would take). Once warmed up, just insert your favorite k-cup and press brew. In less than 30 seconds, your cup is ready. Honestly, it doesn’t get much easier than that. Well, actually it does. If you don’t want to wait a couple of minutes for the machine to warm up in the morning, just preset your Keurig to start up at a certain time each morning. No more waiting! Just press and go!

Another aspect I love is how many different flavors of coffee, hot chocolate, and tea are offered! Keurig is sure to have a flavor that everyone will love. When thinking about all the flavors available, plus the convenience and fast brewing time, I believe this machine can almost completely eliminate the need to visit your local coffee shop. If the coffee shop is somewhere you visit on a regular basis, this machine can definitely save you a lot of money!

After testing this machine for a couple of weeks, I have concluded that there are only two things that I would add/change. First of all, I found that every so often some of the powder from the hot chocolate k-cups wouldn’t get mixed in with the water. This would occasionally lead to a weak cup of hot chocolate. Although this was an issue for the hot chocolate, I didn’t have any issues with either the coffee or the tea k-cups. Therefore, I am assuming the issue is due to the absence of a filter in the hot chocolate k-cups. Second of all, I would love to see Keurig add a ‘tap-like function’ on the machine. The ‘tap-like function’ would allow you to add a bit of extra hot water if your coffee or tea was too strong. Right now, when my coffee or tea turns out stronger than I prefer, I simply add a bit of water from my kitchen tap. The ‘tap-like function’ is just a suggestion and not a necessity. The absence of a tap function does not change the functionality of this machine.

In conclusion, I am very happy Keurig gave me the opportunity to review their Platinum Home Brewing System. I have been thoroughly enjoying all of it’s many functions. Thank you Keurig for solving my coffee dilemmas and for making such a great home brewing system!
