Mountains of the Moon Review & Giveaway!

Lately in fashion (and everywhere else for that matter), I have noticed that going green or eco-friendly is definitely the thing to do. Finally, there are many clothing manufacturers focusing on making clothing that is both stylish and friendly to the environment. Mountains of the Moons is a wonderful clothing company that is making it’s mark in the up and coming eco-friendly fashion scene.

Here is what the people of Mountains of the Moon had to say,
“Mountains of the Moon Eco.Fashion is a sustainable design and apparel organization aimed at creating high-quality, and wearable art-style clothing that helps, not hurts, the earth. We see ourselves as collaborators with our customers in an effort to take a stand in making environmentally and socially responsible decisions through our wardrobes. Our goal for our company and our customers is to work together to express ourselves through fashion and art while making a profound collective difference in the state of our world.”

This Chicago based company is not only providing the United States with fashionable eco-friendly clothing, but they are also serving the rest of the world. “The Mountains of the Moon collections are available at over 100 boutiques and select retail stores, from California to New York to Australia to Japan.”

Review
After looking through all the different clothing that Mountains of the Moon sells, I was impressed that their clothing is quite unique. I think this company does a great job of providing a vast range of fashionable clothing for the whole family!

I had the opportunity to review the Mountains of the Moon’s Audrey Dress: Natural Hemp and Organic Cotton Mock Wrap Dress. This lovely wrap dress is made from 55% hemp and 45% cotton knit fabric. Since I had never tried clothing made from hemp before (my eco-friendly clothing is usually organic cotton or bamboo), I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Whenever someone says the word ‘hemp’, the first thing that comes to mind is that stiff, prickling string I used to use to make necklaces and bracelets as a teenager. When I received this dress, I was pleasantly surprised by how soft this dress actually was.

When I decided to review the natural instead of the black Audrey dress, it was purely because I already have enough black dresses in my closet. Usually I don’t choose light colored dresses since often you can often see your underwear right through them, unless you wear a slip. When I tried on the Audrey Dress for the first time, I immediately noticed that you couldn't see any underwear lines! This made me extremely happy.

Continuing on with the fabric…I really enjoyed the feeling of the fabric when wearing this dress. Because it is so soft, it is perfect for sensitive skin. In addition, I loved the weight of the fabric. Even though this dress feels very light, the fabric is quite thick. This helps with, as I mentioned in the previous paragraph, it’s underwear-hiding ability. In addition, even though the fabric is decently thick, it is still breathable yet warm. This is great because it allows the dress to be worn in a variety of seasons: Spring, Summer, and Fall. Additionally, on their website, they show that this dress can easily be paired with pants and worn on colder days. I think the versatility of this dress is great! This is a dress that I will definitely get a lot of use out of.

Finally, my favorite aspect of this dress had to be the style! “This stunning knee-length dress sets itself apart from traditional wrap dresses with a unique (and much more comfortable) pull-over design that includes a sexy mock wrap top, 3/4-length sleeves, four side ties, and a stylish uneven hem with a merrowed finish to create a look that is straight off the runway.” I was relieved that when I tried the Audrey dress on, it fit perfectly (this is something I always worry about when ordering off of the internet)! I really liked the side ties at the waist because they have an instant slimming effect. Since the side ties bring in the dress at the waist, the lower portion of the dress is drapes softly off your hips, giving it a light appearance. Additionally, I really loved the unique slanted design at the bottom sides of the dress. This is a simple feature that makes the dress even more beautiful and unique!

After having the opportunity to review this dress, I am extremely happy with every aspect of it! This simple dress is beautiful and flattering for almost every body type. In addition, I love that the simplicity and versatility of this dress will allow it to be worn for years to come.

  143. I would get an Eco Warrior shopping bag for me.
If they have the daisy gauchos in my size I'd get those too, but I'm plus-size so I don't think they have my size. Instead I'd use the rest for a gift certificate for one of my friends who'd LOVE the clothes and they'd have her size.
