LightWedge Review!

Many people like to read in bed at night but often have to worry about bothering a partner with the light. There are many book lights out there that attempt to combat this issue but many do not work as well as they should. Luckily, a company called LightWedge has come out with an innovative new book light that allows you to light up your entire book page instead of the entire room.

Review
LightWedge offered to send me their two most popular book lights to try out: The LightWedge Original and the LightWedge Paperback. Both the LightWedge Original and Paperback use a strip of LED lights, which is transmitted over your book page with the use of a clear acrylic screen. Each LightWedge takes four AAA batteries that hide away within the spine of the LightWedge. LightWedge estimates that four AAA batteries should last approximately 40 hours. Since I have not had an opportunity to use both LightWedges for 40 hours each, I cannot backup or dispute their claim.

Both of these LightWedges are quite small, which make them ideal for travelling by car, plane, etc. The LightWedge Paperback is compact and measures only 7.4" x 5.5". The size of the LightWedge Paperback makes it ideal for using with standard mass-market paperback books. The LightWedge Original measures 6.75" x 9.25" and is perfect for hardcover books and larger paperback books. I love that both LightWedges come in a vast array of colors, which makes this gadget ideal for both men and women.

I tried the LightWedge Paperback and Original and I found that they both did a great job of lighting up the entire page without lighting up the room. This aspect makes it easy to read in the light while your partner is sleeping. I found that the LightWedges make it much easier to read the entire page when compared to a standard book light. However, I did notice that when I turned on each LightWedge and placed them on a page, both had a slightly wavy pattern; although, as you continue reading, you cannot notice this very much. I can imagine the wavy patterns occur because of the type of plastic used for the screen.

Overall, I think the LightWedge is a interesting and helpful innovation that makes reading in the dark, either before bed or on the go, that much easier. That would make an excellent gift for an occasional or avid book reader.

  1. I need one of these. I read paperbacks all the time and my husband hates the light. My little light is awful because I have to hold it the entire time. Thanks for the review.
