A bit about Kathryn Cole
“I design and create fine handcrafted jewelry. My simple and elegant designs are influenced by my love of flowers and nature. However, I find inspiration everywhere. In a stained glass window or a piece of fabric. The inspiration becomes a drawing, a watercolor, or a pen and ink and then it is transferred into a silver design.”

“Each piece of sterling silver jewelry is fabricated by hand. Most designs have some element of piercing in which I use a jeweler’s handsaw to create the intricate detail. Each piece of silver is sawed, soldered, filed, sandpapered, and polished. I discovered silversmithing at the University of Texas at Austin while studying Advertising. When I heard that there was a jewelry-making class I was drawn to it. I took it and loved it. I have been making jewelry ever since.”

Review
When Kathryn told me she would be sending me her simple heart necklace to review, I was very excited. Since Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, I thought this would be a great way to highlight the holiday on my blog. When I was reading through the description of this necklace online, I was happy to see that this piece is 100% one-of-a-kind. The heart necklaces that she makes are not made using a mold and therefore, each one is guaranteed to be unique.

When I received the package in the mail that contained by new simple heart necklace, I quickly unwrapped it. In the package, I found a darling little box wrapped with a red ribbon. The way Kathryn packages her items is extremely professional and I love how it comes perfectly prepared to give as a gift.

In my opinion, the necklace looks even better up close than it did online. When taking a closer look at it, I noticed that it is virtually perfect; no flaws what so ever. I can tell that Kathryn must take great pride in the pieces that she creates.

After I tried the necklace on, I noticed that even though the pendant itself is 1 5/8" (height) by 1 5/16" (width), it is very light and easy to wear. In addition, the length of the chain that I was sent is perfect!

Finally, because the heart is such a classic shape, I feel confident knowing that I will be able to wear this necklace for years to come. I am thoroughly impressed with the craftsmanship of Kathryn Cole’s Jewelry. This is one shop I will definitely be keeping in mind for the future.
