Roller Coasters Giveaway!

I came across this brilliant store on Etsy called Roller Coasters. This store specializes in making unique and handmade creations and mostly sells wonderful coaster sets but on occasion, they also sell items such as magnets. The coasters that ‘Roller Coasters’ makes have gorgeous designs on imported 4x4 stone (coaster sets and tile works are imported stone, generally marble, with a rough tumbled look) with cork backing. The transfer process really lets the beauty of the stone shine though. Individual variations of each coaster add to the quality and brilliance.

The owner of Roller Coasters was willing to tell me a bit about herself and her store:
“I am 31 year old freelance graphic designer who works from home to allow me more time with my son. I am also a Navy wife so having a job that I can pack up and take with me is important to me as we move so darn much! I created this line of coasters because I have an obsession with images and putting them on things. I also like creating useful things that are pretty and add to a homes decor while being quite useful. My "other job" is graphic design work where I create branding, logos, and websites for small businesses. Another interesting tidbit is that I have two sets of coasters which are featured in a room design makeover for the pilot season of Dear Genvieve featured on HGTV to be aired early 2009.”

  12. Oh wow! How beautiful!

I love the Elegant scroll design.

Maybe she could try making some that look like Andy Warhol prints? Four different colored versions of one photo. Could be custom, or she could pick a photo she already has/likes.

Or what about botanicals? Ferns and leaves?

Possibly ones that look like fossils with fish in them?

I know you only asked for one idea, but it's what I came up with!

  16. I really like the Gold And Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend coasters...they're so pretty! I also like that you can make custom ones as well with your own images. That was the first thing that came to mind to suggest, but after looking around the site I saw they were already there! I would also like if there were some coasters with dogs on them...maybe seperate breeds, I'm not sure. But in my family we love our dogs so we would definitely use those! =)

  21. I loved WHERE THE RED FERN GROWS & BLACKBIRD FLY! Simple designs, great color choices!
For something new... I'd go "java"! Something with more of a "coffee" flavor, with deep & rich earthy colors!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. My favorite would be "To catch a butterfly". I'd like to see a design that would fit into my kinda eclectic french country home. A set with Sunflowers and/or stylized fleur de lis (maybe super close up of bits of them) as the "background" or side design, that ties it together, with then a different animal on each coaster, like a rabbit, rooster, owl, duck, sheep, or chicken -- you get the idea ;)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I really like the International Passport design. These coasters are very unique in their texture and design...a great gift idea!

I would love to see a design that incorporates Chinese characters and motifs somehow...I love Asian inspired housewares! And of course, having red as a color on them would be great, too!

    These are my favorites
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=5508621 because its a fun design, but I like several of your choices.

I would suggest vintage botanical/flower prints in the rich maize or burgundy you've already used. You can find great prints at antique shops, books, etc. for inspiration.

    ReplyDelete
  45. These are really nice! I like the fall leaves set the best I think. My recommendation for something new is a set with river bed images - you know the little rocks/pebbles that you can see through the water and just on the edge of a small river/stream where the leaves are sometimes or little plants and a few stones. I think that would look nice on the stone she uses.
