My First Giveaway!

One thing that got me interested in starting a blog was the wonderful carnival that Bloggy Giveaways hosts every few months. When I started my blog I said, "Next time that Bloggy Giveaways has a Carnival I want to join too!" So here we are. I just found out that the next carnival is happening NOW so that means I am hosting a giveaway as well! How fun? My first giveaway! :)

This giveaway comes with a bit of a story. When I was contemplating whether to stick with my study in nursing or move to studying human ecology, I had a really tough time making a decision. Mostly because I had always thought, I wanted to be a nurse because of my strong interest in healthcare. Even though I later found out that human ecology does focus on health promotion, I still worried that I would not be gaining the type of information that I had a desire to learn. This is where Prevention magazine comes in. Before making my decision on whether to switch or not, I had read Prevention magazine a couple of times. After finally choosing to switch into Human Ecology, I decided I would take up a trial opportunity for Prevention magazine. Once I started reading it, I loved it and decided to keep the subscription. I love the magazine because it focuses it's articles on the latest medical research and has tons of information that I can use and carry with me. Therefore, in a way, it still allows me to continue increasing my knowledge about healthcare without being a nurse. It provides me with a lot of information that adds on to what I have learned in formal education that I will be able to use forever.

So...this brings us to the giveaway. For the giveaway, I am giving away a copy of the DVD, 'Prevention Fitness Systems: Ultimate Walking Workout with Chris Freytag'. This DVD focuses on "3 easy workouts to drop pounds and firm up fast." This DVD is Region 1 (Canada and US) and is 61 minutes in length.




This giveaway ends August 6th at 9:00am CST.

Rules of the Giveaway
1.) Bloggers and Non-bloggers are free to enter
2.) If you are a non-blogger, you must leave an email on your post so I have a way to reach you. If I do not have an email to reach you with, I will automatically pick another winner.
3.) Giveaway is open to residents of Canada and US only.
4.) Winners must respond within 24 hours of my email with their mailing address or the prize will be forfeited and I will pick another winner.

Post about my giveaway on your blog (make sure to leave a link to your blog post in your entry) (1 extra entry)

If you are doing either option for extra entries, please leave a separate comment for each saying that you did so. If you do both things for extra entries, you should be leaving a total of 3 entries. This just makes it easier for me to pick a winner. There is a maximum of 3 entries per person. People that enter more than 3 times will be disqualified.

  6. I walk! I try for 30 mins a day - on the treadmill or outside if it's not too hot and humid. It's a great stress reliever for me!

  8. I lost 30 pounds between February and June. I've been having a tough time staying on track for summer though. It's either raining or 100 degrees (or both). I usually walk 2 miles a day.

  9. I walk with my kids (whenever it's not too hat, we're in FL so it can get pretty brutal), and I swim whenever I can.

  20. I do nothing - Ok I try to push myself to get on my stationary bike.

    Florida is too hot to go out in the summer heat. Winter is when I walk.

  24. thanks for entering my contest :) What I do to stay in shape in the summertime....Hmmmm, well this summer not much. being pregnant is taking a toll on me but usually, I play softball, ride my bike (and towing that bike trailer with my daughter in it is no small accomplishment), and we like to swim as well :) Thanks for the chance at this video!

  30. Usually in the summer we take family walks in the evening after the heat of the day has passed. This year we have AC, so we haven't needed to escape a hot house. Instead we've been working out on the Wii Fit. I love it! I can't wait til they come out with more games for the wii board.

  43. My hubby and I walk as often as we can along the coast line. We live on an island so that is pretty easy to do! Its nice because the air is always cooler by the ocean.

  45. I joined a circuit training class at a local gym a couple of years ago and found a great trainer.

    I took some time off because of scheduling conflicts but now I'm back working out at the gym 2 times a week which includes cardio and weight training. I love it because it's only 2 hours a week but the results are fantastic!

    By the way, thanks for entering my giveaway. This is a great way to meet new friends.

  53. I had knee surgery in january so regular exercise is tough, but i have been doing leg strengthening exercises for now to help. once the knees feel better I can move to other exercises too.
