My very first posting

Today, I have finally decided to start writing on my blog. I have been contemplating it for the past month or so but couldn't decide how to start. Well, I still don't know what to say or how to start so I figured the best way is to just jump right into it.

The real reason I started writing today is because I just got a new camera and it gave me some motivation. It is actually where the name of my blog came from. Recently, I have started gaining a strong interest in macro photography (Hence the name, 'Everything Up Close'). I've been eying up a couple cameras lately and finally made my decision on which one to get yesterday. I chose the Canon SX100 IS. I did a ton of research on it and everywhere I looked, everyone said it is a wonderful camera for the price range it's in. I bought it today and since I've brought it home, I've been taking pictures of everything: tomatoes, grass, our fire pit, the roof, leaves, and probably anything else you can think of. So far, so good. It'll take me a little while to get used to all the functions but it seems fairly straightforward.

Before I get going and finish my first post, I'm going to explain a few of the things I hope to be doing on my blog. First of all, since I am just starting with my photography, I'd love to post pictures and get peoples opinion on them. Also, I've been doing quite a bit of crafting lately and have come up with some neat ideas (at least I think they are neat...we'll see) for items to make and 'attempt' to sell on etsy. Thirdly, since the beginning of this year I have been really getting into contesting as a hobby, so, I am planning to share some links and hopefully host a few contests of my own. Basically, the main purpose of this blog is to share my hobbies and hopefully meet a few people along the way that have the same interests as me.

So...I'll leave it at that (ended up being pretty long for my first post!). Anyways, I hope to get to know some of you. Don't be shy to post comments on my posts. I'd love to see who is reading about this part of my life.
